When it's my turn

When it’s my turn

When it’s my turn, to shuffle off this mortal coil
To move on to the next stage of this great journey
There’ll be no tears

I want no black ties, no long faces
No sad, mournful hymns, no lillies, no boughs of sad cypress

Don’t shed your tears for me, I’m not gone, I haven’t died
I’m more alive now then ever I was when I walked this earth
I’m coming home

Play happy music, to send me on my way
It’s a scary journey – but I have faith – I will come to no harm
But don’t you dare shed tears for me
I’m fine – my thoughts go out to you

And, in time, when it’s your time
You and I will meet again
We’ll embrace, and share our memories again
And we’ll be together forever

So – don’t shed tears for me
I’ve just gone ahead, I’m just a few steps in front of you
You have the rest of your time – make the most of it
Don’t waste your tears on me
