Inspired-Glass - Stained glass, fused glass, suncatchers, lamps, door and window panels, tealights, dichroic jewellery and greetings cards - all handmade in Sunny West Cork, Ireland.
We are a small studio designing stained glass and fused glass - situated near Ballydehob in the far South-West of County Cork, Ireland. You can find us at selected local markets and craft / art shows and exhibitions - including the open-air markets at Schull and Skibbereen through the summer months.
This website displays my range of hand-made stained-glass - (including suncatchers, tealights, lamps, door & window panels) and kiln-fused glass / dichroic jewellery as well as the unique, hand-made greetings cards made by my wife Chris. We hope that you enjoy browsing our gallery of designs. A selection of our items are available by mail-order.
We are delighted to have been accepted for Registration with the Crafts Council of Ireland - which is the national design and economic development organisation for the craft industry in Ireland. See the links at the bottom of this page for more details
About Stained glass
Each stained glass item is unique, and is made using the intricate 'Tiffany' technique - where every piece of coloured glass is hand-cut to size, and individually wrapped in thin copper-foil, before being carefully soldered together and then hand-finished. This process allows much finer detail than traditional 'leaded' stained glass while still producing a strong and stylish result. Other studios use a variety of cheaper alternative techniques involving various types of plastic and paint - but all of our work is made the ‘old fashioned’ way - which takes longer, but produces a better effect and a long-lasting result.
About Fused glass
In addition to the stained glass, we also produce an ever-expanding range of kiln-fused glass items - including a great choice of pendants, brooches and earrings using a variety of inclusions, coloured and irridescent glass, and some stunning dichroic glass. We also have a selection of kiln-fused suncatchers - many of which incorporate the seven Chakra healing colours.
The glass is cut to size and shape before being heated in a computer-controlled kiln. If dichroic glass is involved it will undergo an unpredictable colour-shift during the intense heat of the firing, at high temperatures the glass will move and distort - adding an exciting element of surprise to the project.

Commissions
We are always delighted to discuss commissions for individual pieces, either produced to your own design / specification - or items similar to those displayed on these pages.
If you would like to commission a custom item for a birthday, Christmas, etc - please do leave plenty of time before the event - it can take many hours to design & make a complex piece - and we won't rush things to meet a deadline at the expense of quality!
