Inspired-glass is a small studio designing and repairing stained and fused glass - situated near Ballydehob in the far South-West of County Cork, Ireland. You can find us at a number of local stockists, - or visit our online shop.
About Stained glass
Each stained glass item is unique, I generally use the intricate 'Tiffany' technique - where every piece of self-coloured glass is hand-cut to size, and individually wrapped in thin copper-foil, before being carefully soldered together and then hand-finished.
This process allows much finer detail than traditional 'leaded' stained glass while still producing a strong and stylish result. Other studios may use a variety of cheaper alternative techniques involving various types of plastic and paint - but all of my work is made the ‘old fashioned’ way - which takes longer, but produces a better effect and a long-lasting result.
I also work with traditional leaded construction, a lot of this work is renovation and repair, rather than new construction.
As well as my range of ‘standard’ or ‘pre-made’ gift items, a large amount of my work nowadays is in ‘bespoke’ design - anything from a one-off suncatcher to a set of stained-glass panels / doors / windows.
I also offer a full repair & renovation service for 'tiffany-style' and leaded items. For some examples of my recent work - see here - for information about commissioned stained-glass designs see here.
This website displays my range of hand-made stained-glass - (including suncatchers, lamps, door & window panels) and kiln-fused glass / dichroic jewellery, as well as the unique, hand-made greetings cards made by my wife Chris.

About Fused glass
In addition to the stained glass, I also produce an ever-expanding range of kiln-fused glass items - including a great choice of suncatchers, pendants, brooches and earrings using a variety of inclusions, coloured and irridescent glass, and stunning dichroic glass. I also have a selection of kiln-fused suncatchers - many of which incorporate the seven Chakra healing colours.
I cut the glass to size and shape before heating it to around 800 degrees centigrade in my computer-controlled kiln, in a process that takes at least seven hours. If dichroic glass is involved it will undergo an unpredictable colour-shift during the intense heat of the firing, at high temperatures the glass will move and distort - adding an exciting element of surprise to the project.
My stock of dichroic jewellery is constantly changing (it sells faster than I can photograph it!) - so if you’re looking for something special it's better to contact us or visit one of our stockists - though we do have a small selection of jewellery in our online shop.
